Overview
Pharmasave Sylvan Lake is a 2,458 sq ft full-service retail pharmacy located at Pelican Place in Sylvan Lake, Alberta. The project spanned the full project delivery cycle — from architectural programming and schematic design through development and building permit approvals — and included complete interior and exterior design for the new commercial retail unit.
Design Challenge
The design had to balance two distinct identities: a professional, trusted pharmacy environment for prescription services and compounding, and a welcoming, well-organized retail space for over-the-counter products and customer engagement — all within a tight mid-block commercial unit with limited natural light.
Design Response
The program encompasses a dispensary, prescription services counter, compounding area, consultation room, retail merchandising zones, and full support spaces. Custom millwork was designed for the dispensary, checkout, and retail display units — creating a cohesive, branded environment aligned with Pharmasave standards while maintaining operational efficiency. The exterior elevation and signage design give the location a strong, professional street presence at Pelican Place. The project was developed in accordance with the Alberta Building Code (Part 9) and Pharmasave brand standards.
